Pu-Erh tea originates from Yunnan Province, China. It is made from the same wild tea bush (Camellia sinensis) as green and black tea. The main difference is the fermentation process of tea leaves, during which dried tea tree leaves are poured into large piles in a thick layer. The leaves are moistened with water, covered and stored each time. The elevated temperature provides the perfect environment for the bacteria to multiply, which instigated the fermentation and gave Pu-Erh tea its unique properties and specific smell.
