Pu-Erh tea originates from Yunnan, China. It is made of the same wild tea plant (lot. Camellia sinensis) as green and black tea. The main difference is in the process of tea leave oxidation. Wilted tea leaves are poured in a thick layer into large piles. Then, the leaves are sprinkled with water and kept covered for several weeks. The increased temperature is an excellent medium for bacteria that induces oxidation and grants Pu-Erh tea its exceptional qualities and specific taste and flavor.
