Even though there is no official consensus, usually Garam Masala contains black pepper, clove, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, star anise and coriander. In the Indian language, ‘garam masala’ means a ‘warm blend’.

In India, this spice blend is used to season dishes at the end of cooking but do try experimenting a little and rubbing Garam Masala into marinated meat. You will be pleasantly surprised with the end result. You can also use this blend to season vegetables, fish, soups, stews and curry.
