Bell pepper originates from Guatemala and Mexico. Brough in by Columbus, bell pepper has spread across Europe very quickly. It was called the ‘red Indian salt’. The bell pepper colors the food in a pretty red tint and gives it a slightly sweet and spicy taste. Bell pepper is widely used in Hungarian, Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Powdered bell peppers go well with rice, seafood, tomatoes, fish, poultry, turkey and pasta dishes.
